Work Imaginations

Midweek and caught up in the middle of work here at the camp! This week, I photograph Nickie in her edgy leopard print coat, fur vest, and chic black jeans. Sometimes I like to imagine myself in different positions, like what I would be doing if I didn't create, teach, or dance. I can imagine Nickie as one of the cool tour guides inside the palace or maybe working as a curator inside the palace museum where we shot this.

In other work stuff, next week I will be promoting the Sporttube.dance campaign with radio station Europa 2. The rules: groups are to send in their videos to the sporttube site to the music that Europa 2 will play on 15th of November. Rules here: (hope you can read Czech/Slovak). Check out the motivational video with RDS Company edited by Matus Plny below:

Fall Inspiration in Schonnbrunn Park

Model: Nickie Stoicheva

It is a national public holiday all over Europe today! Taking advantage of all these sunny Autumn Austrian days by shooting Nickie in one of my favorite parks in all of Vienna - Schonnbrunn Park in the 12th District - literally our backyard! Usually, I go here to read, study some words in German, or eat lunch (when it's warmer). The Hapsburgs royals used the grounds to vacation in every summer during the empire days, and has a great castle, one of Europe's oldest zoos, and if you have the energy to climb up the hill, one of the best views of the city!

While Mercury is in retrograde for the next 10 days, I tend to do plenty of reflection and reconnecting with old friends, which is a great idea anyways weather one of the planets is going backwards or not. Quiet alone time here is one of the best places to contemplate and recharge your creative juices!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Vienna Streetstyle: "The Devil's in the Details"

Happy Halloween Everybody! Here's Takto from Japan sporting some Herringbone woolpants and a really structured chocolate-colored trench coat. What struck me, however on the street was his SOCKS!!! Yes, socks! Ok, kids, stay safe tonight!

Vienna (Austria) Streetstyle: "Quilted and Quixotic"

Man, the mercury is dropping once again in Austria! Brrrr. Here's Ioana, whom I met by accident, as she travels through central Europe, rockin the all-black quilted look on Singerstrasse in the 1st District. Her coat reminds me of a motorcycle style jacket just cut longer and the faux fur and studded details on her bag screams expensiv-o! Despite it being so cold once again, this year I promised myself that I would avoid the winter blues, by (1) escaping to somewhere warm in the next months and (2) taking more inspiration from the people I'm in constant contact with!

The Look for Less: Elle Style Challenge

Nickie, the "before", in her apartment and the coat in question!

Don't hurt 'em, now!

Like most young ladies, Nickie complains about not having anything to wear! So the challenge today was to put together an outfit from her own closet! It really wasn't so difficult going into Nickie's apartment and finding stuff for her. I shot her walking around some of Vienna's centuries-old squares in the center. This Vienna Economics University student slash dancer had this rockin' sheer leopard print short sleeve top buried in her dresser which I paired with basic black skinny jeans. She also had this uber-soft faux shearling jacket from H&M, rivaling the 1500euro Stella McCartney Jacket. Her own touch was that black satin little bowtie she knotted herself around like a mini-scarf around her neck! Of course, she was on her way to a dance workshop and that LV tote carried her gear for the day. Finally, check out the metal and crystal studs and detailing on her shoes- they are VICIOUS!!

Have a great week, everyone!

Photo essay: "Between Points A and B"

At times, I feel as if I spend more time commuting to work and appointments than I actually do on the job (Not true, but if you've lived, have lived, or visited L.A., you know what we mean!). Blame it on our always on the go, mobile culture but this feeling of rushing between points A and B is a feeling much too familiar by Generation Y. A good few items to take with you before you leave your flat!

A good sturdy bag with lots of room! A must for schlepping all that paperwork mixed with your clothes for a late night dance class. Probably a good idea also if you had a bag within said bag in case you stop by the organic grocery store for some produce!

Hats. Let's face it, I would love a good hair day, every day, but, sadly, the reality is that that's only a possibility if you're rocking the bald look.

Headphones. Not only is the world polluted by trash and carbon emissions, we have to deal with pollution of the noise variety! Better to be rocking out secretly to the new Miley album, than having to hear homegirl's dramz next to you on the train!

Smartphone. (Of course.) I love the ones that are banged up with scratched screens: show's thati it's been well used and gives it character.

I think i wrote too much already! Got a recording and show to go to!

Bratislava (Slovakia) Streetstyle - "Pretty and Pert in Pink"

Dancer off-duty. Before it really gets dark and dreary outside, I love Pauli's choice of high waisted hot-pink pants which anchors her look with the vintage jeans jacket. The style is effortless as she runs off between rehearsals.
